| The UW School of Bhangra was founded in the fall semester, 2006 by then-undergraduate students Mohammad Shah, Gurmukh Mangat, and Harpreet Singh as a Bhangra dance group for the ISA Diwali Night and India Night shows. Since then, it has evolved into a premier cultural dance team at the UW, performing at many different venues. |
 |
Our two biggest shows are still our Diwali Night and India Night
performances. However, we have branched out to other venues, including
the Madison Dance Conference, MCOR, Memorial Union Bash, and the
School of Business's MBA Ball, and we have opened for the UW acapella
group Redefined. We have recently also started having classes through
the SERF's Dancing with Rec Sports program. |
Our membership also comes from extremely diverse backgrounds. We have both graduate and undergraduate students amongst our performers, and their academic interests lie across the entire spectrum. Additionally, we welcome all students to participate--our dancers have included individuals from African-American, Caucasian, Greek, and Indian ethnicities, as well as many others! |
We always love to have new people come and try out for our squad! If you're interested, check the events calendar for the next class, tryout, or public meeting, or contact us through the website! |
